The 240-hour Visa-Free Transit Policy applies to the following conditions:
1) Citizens of the following 54 countries and regions:

European countries (40):

Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Monaco, Russia, United Kingdom, Ireland, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Romania, Ukraine, Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Albania, Belarus, Norway.

American countries (6):

The United States of America, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Chile.

Oceania countries (2):

Australia, New Zealand.

Asian countries (6):

South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Brunei, United Arab Emirates, Qatar.

2) The applicant must hold a valid international travel document with a validity period of no less than 3 months and meet the entry requirements for traveling to a third country (region).
3) The applicant must hold interline passenger tickets or other documents with a specified date and seat to a third country (region) within 240 hours, complete the Arrival Card for Temporary Entry Foreigners, and cooperate with checks and inquiries by exit-entry order inspection authorities.

The 240-hour transit visa-free policy allows foreigners to enter China through 60 ports in 24 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) and stay in designated areas. The details are as follows:

1. Applicable provinces (24):

Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Shanxi, Liaoning, Heilongjiang, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, Fujian, Jiangxi, Shandong, Henan, Hubei, Hunan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan, Chongqing, Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunnan, Shaanxi.

2. Stay and activity area:

Province-wide: Anhui, Hainan, Guizhou, Fujian, Hubei, Shaanxi and other provinces allow activities within the province.

Some cities:

Shanxi: Taiyuan and Datong.

Guangxi: 12 cities including Nanning, Liuzhou, Guilin, Wuzhou, Beihai, Fangchenggang, Qinzhou, Guigang, Yulin, Hezhou, Hechi and Laibin.

Sichuan: 11 cities including Chengdu, Leshan, Deyang, Suining, Meishan, Ya'an, Ziyang, Neijiang, Zigong, Luzhou and Yibin.

Yunnan: Kunming, Lijiang, Yuxi, Pu'er, Chuxiong, Dali, Xishuangbanna, Hon

(I) Foreigners can download and install WeChat or Alipay apps and follow the instructions to input foreign or Chinese mobile phone numbers for account registration.
(II) Foreigners can bind the app to international bank cards such as MasterCard, Visa, JCB, Diners Club, and Discover, or Chinese bank cards with the UnionPay logo.
(III) Foreigners can scan the QR code or use the payment QR code when making payments.

Foreign travelers can use the following valid identification documents when purchasing tickets offline, or via 12306:
(1) Foreign Permanent Resident ID Card.
(2) Passport;
(3) Foreigner's exit-entry permit;
(4) Seafarer's Certificate;
(5) Receipt of acceptance of a visa application issued by China;
(6) Passport loss report certificate;
(7) Temporary international travel document issued by embassies and consulates in China with valid visas or stay certificates
Air
Foreign travelers can book tickets online on the airlines' official app and WeChat mini program, or other ticketing platforms.
Metro/Bus
A total of 55 cities in China have metro lines. Foreign travelers can apply for metro passes at the metro station or use the Alipay/WeChat app to take the metro.
Buses usually do not provide change, so travelers need to prepare small change in advance.
Foreign travelers can take their passports to the service outlets of the bus companies or Metro stations to buy transportation cards. Payment for the cards can be made in cash or by WeChat or Alipay. You can also consider using Alipay or WeChat QR e-ticket function or add a T-Union Apple Pay Card for Chinese public transportation.

Foreign travelers can make hotel reservations online through the Trip.com app or via telephone or other means.
(1) Foreign travelers who are going to stay in hotels are required to present their passports, Foreign Permanent Resident ID Cards, and other valid identification documents for registration at the hotel reception.
(2) The available payment methods at the hotel include cash (RMB), bank card, Alipay, and WeChat. If foreign travelers wish to pay with bank cards, they need to inquire in advance if MasterCard, Visa, or other international bank cards are accepted. Some hotels accept such payment methods as Apple Pay and PayPal; foreign travelers need to inquire in advance.

(I) Overseas visitors to China can exchange foreign currencies for RMB cash in advance before coming to China (each visitor is allowed to take up to RMB20,000 in cash in or out of the country).
(II) Overseas visitors to China can exchange foreign currencies for RMB cash at commercial bank branches, money changers, and self - service currency exchange machines at international airports, land ports, ports, and other entry ports, or withdraw RMB cash using international bank cards at ATMs.
Foreigners can bring their passports or Foreign Permanent Resident ID Cards, and mobile phone numbers in China to the business offices of commercial banks to apply for a bank card (please consult the customer manager of the business office for specific requirements).
